Spend enough time with someone, and they start to feel like you are part of them. Like an extension of themselves. They start having opinions on your style, your hair. They start caring more about what you do, and even expect you to do things the way they would.
Caring is fine. Expecting is where things go wrong. Some days your loved ones won’t like the self you have to offer. But remember: that’s the self they chose to approach in the first place.
Resist the urge to comply right away. Reflect. Pay the cost of having a self.
